![]() This month's story is from Barb Dunn's GPS testimony! "I work in corporate training and development in the pharma/medical industry. My husband, who is a New York City crane operator, is hoping to retire next year. When we moved away from our home in New Jersey and our church, Hillside Lutheran Brethren, of 28 years to come to Tennessee, finding a church home was very important to us. When we found First Baptist Church of Lenoir City, we were baptized and became members in the Spring of 2021. While waiting to see what Dan and I could do together in ministry after he retires, I said yes to a few things at our new church but I felt a little scattered. I decided to sign up for the GPS Life Journey in May of 2023. I thought this might be like The Purpose Driven Life I read and facilitated years ago. I was intrigued. And anything Pastor John recommends has to be good! So, I signed up. I always shared the verse Jeremiah 29:11 with my husband and sons, but this got me thinking. Why did I know that God had a plan and purpose for my life but never asked any more questions? I was pleased when the first verse shared in the GPS Life Journey class was Jeremiah 29:11. GPS Life Journey didn’t only ask the questions for me, it led me step by step to hear God’s answers for this stage of my life and gave me direction! And as it goes, anytime I go through any training, I look at it as a participant and as a professional. I absolutely loved the program. And as an encouraging “I” personality and one who exists to equip my family and community by encouraging and pointing them to biblical truths to fulfill God‘s purposes in their lives, guess who was encouraged to become a facilitator of the GPS program? The Lord has a plan for your life too. His word is true and tells us so, again in Jeremiah 29:11. I would be excited to walk with you as you discover what that plan is for the next stage of your life! I cannot encourage you enough to go through the GPS Life Journey program!" Watch this video to meet one of GPS Life Journey Facilitators... below is a transcript in his own words.
"My name is Jim Robertson and my wife and I relocated to East Tennessee a couple years ago. We were wondering what was our next phase going to be at the new church and new environment. We had a chance to talk with Nolen Rollins. We learned about GPS Life Journey so we took the class. We learned more about ourselves through a variety of assessments, spiritual gift tests, personality tests, and defining our passions. It really gave me a chance to see that God was leading me to work with assisted living residents. I was able to put together a mission plan and Roadmap that helped me achieve those goals to where I was doing something I felt was really worthwhile. While we were taking the class we realized that there was an opportunity to help others and to facilitate other GPS courses. It gave us the chance work with others to help them find their passions and to find their goals. That's something that the GPS class has done for us and we feel real good about what we've been able to do at the church and in our community. As we look at our next phase in life, this is something that we're excited about doing." If you are interested in becoming a GPS Life Journey Facilitator then please contact us to learn more. In this video blog you get to meet Bishop Kenneth Eze from Nigeria, as he shares why he loves to be a GPS Life Journey Facilitator.
GPS Life Journey material has helped so many people to discover their God given purpose and to fulfil it. Bishop Kenneth Eze is a witness to that. As a pastor, he says that he was just going through the motions until he participated in GPS Life Journey process. His life was transformed! As a senior pastor at LivingSpring Christian Assembly, he has seen what a tremendous tool in the hands of the Holy Spirit to help individuals - whatever color, whatever creed or whatever status in life - to be able to find out and discover God's purpose for their lives and fulfil it. He has seen family lives transformed. Great men and women in ministry and outside of ministry, who felt that their life has just begun when they discovered their GPS Life Journey secrets. He has seen families come back together who were close to the edge of divorce. Who say "ah ha, I now understand why my partner is doing what they are doing and all that." He has seen pastors who's lives have been changed and their ministries transformed just because they went through the GPS Life Journey process. They discovered that things are not supposed to be so hard to do. That there are things that they are wired to do by God but never done them yet because they had never discovered it until they went through the GPS Life Journey. He says, "I thank God for GPS Life Journey and for the privilege to be one of the people spreading the message about GPS Life Journey around the world. I thank God for that honor. I want to congratulate Nolen and say God Bless You. Thank you for letting the Holy Spirit use you to bring out great materials." Mary Sue Jordan Executive Director, Lenoir City, Tennessee Housing Authority GPS Life Journey Facilitator We are honored to have the senior pastor John Hunn, talk at the GPS Life Journey Global Leadership Summit. He talks about the importance of GPS Life Journey and the impact that it has on his church, First Baptist Church of Lenoir City, Tennessee. Below are some highlights from the video with scripture.
GPS Life Journey is all about equipping and mobilizing. 2023 is the year of mobilizing at First Baptist Church of Lenoir City, Tennessee. Every quarter we have GPS Life Journey classes. How GPS Life Journey helps with discipling people and doesn't mean spending more money! Spending more time with people and helping them discover God's purpose for their next season of life matters. His approach is to do what the bible says and he appreciates how biblical GPS Life Journey. God's work for the church to equip the saints for the ministry. Ephesians 4:11-12 New International Version 11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up Theological - God's logic - do it His way, stick with the word and GPS Life Journey process is based on this. It's very personal to John and GPS Life Journey is helping him to build a new testament church. Matthew 16:18 New International Version 18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[a] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[b] will not overcome it. He enjoyed GPS Life Journey so much, he took his staff through it and they did a two days retreat. Identities that GPS speaks life into: Son of God, Servant of God, Slave of God, Soldier, Shepherd. GPS Life Journey helps you understand why you work for God, Galatians 2:20 New International Version I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. GPS Life Journey helps you win the war and do the hard work. Purpose. Passion. Priority. All identified by GPS Life Journey and helps churches fill their ministry with people who have discovered their gifts. Foundation - takes a long time to build this, hear the word of God and acts on it. John 1:14 New International Version14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. Ultimate goal to be Christ like and act like Jesus. Serve and love one another. Ephesians 4:11-16 New International Version11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. Have higher goals 1 Timothy 4:7 New International Version7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. Satan hates this but he can't stop us! We need discipline - train - exercise to reach these higher goals. It's important to take care of our spiritual gifts because we are all aging. 2 Corinthians 4:16 New International Version 16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. It's not a coincidence that discipline sounds like discipleship. God is saying to leaders to tell your people to get to the gym and work out on their spiritual muscles. GPS Life Journey is the starting point. People know where to serve and it removes the frustration of wanting to serve but not knowing where you belong! Once you do GPS Life Journey no longer is it ignorance but apathy if someone is not serving. Pastor John has embraced GPS Life Journey because after years of frustration and the need is so great, this solves the problem. It does it the right way and allows God to do his business. He believes in it because it helps to expand God's kingdom. Nolen Rollins has been a blessing by coming back to First Baptist Church in Lenoir City, TN. What happened? The death of my mother took a huge toll on me personally and people around me were trying to mold into what they thought was the best way to raise a girl child. I struggled to stay calm and be who they wanted me to be, so that I would not be scolded for trying to be me. Longing for a Better FutureAs the years passed by, I was looking forward to going to college where I knew I would be away from preying eyes. I could try to be me. But it truly never happened as I was always trying to hide in the shadows of others and be validated by them. While all this was going on I had given my life to Christ as a young teenage girl in secondary school. Yet I had not truly embraced the love of a loving God until I got into college and I joined a Christian fellowship. I achieved a deeper level of understanding of who God is and how much He loved me and how unique He made me to be. So, I began the quest to discover who I was and what purpose God had for my life. I had worked in various fields and careers but one thing always stood out and that was my passions. I desired to support young adults who were struggling with who they are. I was also drawn to support women by helping them discover who they are and to have the right values that truly define them. Discovery of GPS Life JourneyBy the time I left college, I got married to the love of my life who saw so much potential on the inside of me. He was always supportive and pushed me to build on my capacity. It was during that journey of building capacity that I got a text message from one of my mentors, Dr. Yemi Alfred, inviting me on a journey of self-discovery called the GPS Life Journey. Wow! I was curious and immediately called her to let her know I would sign up. This was in March, 2016. This discovery was the turning point in my life. I was able to truly define myself, understand my personality, my strengths and weaknesses. And, most importantly I discovered God’s purpose for my life. Light and understanding came to me. I began to explore new areas in children’s and youth ministry and women ministry also. By 2017 I started an NGO for children where we support vulnerable children by sending them back to school and supporting them through training and counselling to help give them hope for a better tomorrow. This year is our sixth year and the Lord has helped us to impact so many children and we are trusting Him to reach more. From Nigeria to the United Arab EmiratesAs the Lord would have it, I relocated with my children to join my husband in 2018 who was working in the United Arab Emirates so we could be together as a family. By 2020 covid happened and the whole world was locked down and I started seeking new ways to build myself and also support other people around me. I reached out to Risa Baker, a global GPS Life Journey Facilitator, and told her that I also would love to be a GPS Life Facilitator. She was eager to train me. I was equipped and I went on to train other women.
Today I use it as a tool for coaching and training for the women in the women’s ministry the Lord led to start a year after I relocated to UAE. Because of the real danger of Christian group meetings here, my greatest asset is the ability to facilitate GPS online. GPS Life journey is a sure way to go if you truly desire to discover God’s Plan for living a significant life. Thank you, Nolen Rollins, for developing this. GPS is not a book but a process that you go through to discover God’s purpose for the next stage of your life.
